1 Egg
  Milk
1tsSalt
1/4tsPepper
3tbButter, melted

Sift together the dry ingredients. Add well-beaten egg, the melted butter, and enough milk to make fairly moist, stiff batter. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling liquid. Cover very closely and cook for 18 minutes. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
